What to do if you or a friend are being bullied?

If you are being bullied on school grounds, according to state law, you may contact the followng authoraties:

  1. School Principal, teacher, and/or counselor
  2. School Superintendent
  3. Parents

If you are being cyber-bullied you may report the harassment to the following people,

  1. Website, application, server administrator
  2. Parents

 

Is it bullying?1

In the state of Iowa "Bullying" is defined as the hostile behavior in which has the effects of:

  1. Placing a student in reasonable fear of harm to the student’s person or property
  2. Have a substantially detrimental effect on the student’s physical or mental health
  3. Substantially interfere with the student’s academic performance, or
  4. Substantially interfere with the student’s ability to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or privileges provided by the school.

Each local School district must have a policy with minimum of these definitons for bullying.

There is no official policy for the occurence of OFF-CAMPUS incidents. However, the school may take action if said bullying were to occur on:

  1. School grounds, functions, transpot, sponsored activites
